My floor is squeaky. Can I screw the subfloor to the joists from the basement?

Screwing subfloor to joists from below, like from a basement, isn't the proper or effective way to fix squeaks. Subfloor is designed to be fastened from the top, pulling it tightly down onto the joists with construction adhesive to prevent movement. Attempting this from underneath often won't create enough pressure to eliminate squeaks or ensure a lasting, stable connection.
